Meet the Team

Diane Terry

PRESIDENT

Diane Terry is as professional a volunteer as they come, boasting roughly 100 years (give or take) of community service and outreach experience. She’s also a crackerjack board and committee member, serving at times with the Junior League, Salt Lake Chill Affair, Volunteers of Adult Detox, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and Boy Scouts of America. Diane currently sits on the board of The Road Home, Salt Lake City’s nationally acclaimed homeless shelter.

Diane is the volunteer maven of the I Am Zambia team, combining practical knowledge with an adventurous spirit to create once-in-a-lifetime opportunities and unforgettable experiences for our volunteers and the folks they serve on the ground.

Heidi Kiene

SECRETARY

Heidi Kiene is truly a mother without borders. She “adopts” family members the way other people adopt catchphrases and, as the biological mom of three painfully cool millennials, she has her pockets full of slang as well, TBH.

Like her co-founder, Heidi is a helper through and through and veteran humanitarian explorer. She previously served as board member for Mothers Without Borders in Zambia and worked as a volunteer at an orphanage in Port Au Prince, Haiti. When she’s not volunteering, she enjoys spending time with her hard-working husband and numerous family members — both those who are related to her and those who wish they were.

David Porter

TREASURER

David Porter has 18 years of supply chain experience, including a variety of executive positions at Cummins Inc., the nation’s largest manufacturer of diesel and natural gas engines. Currently Porter is the Chief Procurement Officer at Vivint where he is responsible for sourcing, procurement and supply chain management across the smart home services provider. Before joining Vivint, David was the executive director of supply chain for the Cummins’ engine division, where he was responsible for global engine manufacturing and procurement across a network of 11 plants around the world. He led more than 6,000 employees and managed nearly $3 billion in annual purchases.

Blessings Mushala

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

With experience in sales, insurance, immigration and volunteer work in Capetown, South Africa, Blessings understands the value of teamwork and building unparalleled group experiences. Blessings earned a BS in Computer Engineering from BYU-Idaho and an MBA from Gonzaga University.
